- Decorah, IA
I'm a full-time synchronous distributed learning student at Wartburg Theological Seminary. This means I take my classes "live" but on-line from my home in Decorah, Iowa. I'm deeply involved with my home congregation, Good Shepherd Lutheran, and the community of Decorah, Iowa.
What brings you joy in your ministry?
I am absolutely loving my education, experience, and classmates at Wartburg.
Who inspires you in ministry or seminary?
I love the questions, the unknowns, the mystery, and the discussions about all of these things.
What are your interests outside of ministry?
I love being in a community where people know each other. Presently, I've helping plan our town's first ever Pride festival, which has been a total blast. I love being with friends, hosting dinner parties that my partner does the cooking for, taking pictures of my dog, and wandering out in the woods.
Best meal you've ever eaten?
There have been so many that I couldn't think of one. So, in recent memory, it would be the shrimp scampi that my partner David prepared for his sons and me, and my parents, who had brought 3 lbs of fresh shrimp back from their winter trip to Florida.
Did you always want to be clergy?
This is a hard question. I have definitely always seen myself in this role off and on throughout my life. It was only through the work of ELM that I believed it could really happen in the way it would have to for me.
