- Minneapolis, MN
I was a student at United Theological and Luther Seminaries, and am a member at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. I worked at The Basilica of Saint Mary in Minneapolis for 9 years prior to beginning seminary, and am a candidate for ordination in the Minneapolis Synod. I completed my internship at Mount Olive Lutheran Church in Minneapolis.
What brings you joy in your ministry?
I really enjoy hearing people's stories, and being a presence of encouragement and hope. I really enjoy preaching, particularly the experience of seeing the spirit work in the process of writing and proclamation of the Gospel.
Who inspires you in ministry or seminary?
I have been inspired by many people, in particular friends who are in ministry. I have appreciated having people in my life who have called out gifts in me that I was unaware of in myself, and who have encouraged me as I have taken the steps forward on my journey without knowing where the path was leading. I am inspired by pastors I know who model compassion, shared leadership, a commitment to keep learning, and a willingness to encourage everyone around them in their vocations!
What are your interests outside of ministry?
I love camping, biking, reading, and watching movies.
Best meal you've ever eaten?
My favorite meal is tacos, and anything chocolate for dessert!
I am the oldest of three children and grew up in the Twin Cities. I have been Catholic most of my life, but became an "honorary Lutheran" while a student at St. Olaf College. I worked most of the last nine years at The Basilica, but have left both my job and my church as I pursue an M-Div and candidacy. I am a member at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church on Lake St in Minneapolis. My partner Karen and I have been together for 13 years, and have lived with our three cats in our house in the Longfellow neighborhood for the last seven years.
