Ministry setting

I graduated from Wartburg Theological Seminary in May of 2017 and am technically still a candidate for first call for Word and Sacrament ministry. However, I have experienced a change in my sense of call and am working to switch to the Word and Service roster. I grew up in the DC area but now live in the Twin Cities with my spouse who is also a member of Proclaim.

What brings you joy in your ministry?

The best part of what I do right now is leading my congregation's faith formation programs, especially the confirmation class and high school youth group. I love being able to walk alongside young people as they explore and learn about their own faith.

Who inspires you in ministry or seminary?

The opportunity to help others explore, learn about, and live out their callings as Christians and to be part of the community of the church.

What are your interests outside of ministry?

I'm still new to the Twin Cities, so I'm enjoying getting to know this area, especially since it's the first place I expect to stay for more than a year in quite some time.

Best meal you've ever eaten?

Hmmm...I'd have to say the Christmas dinners my grandmother used to have. Not so much for the food, but just for our whole family being together and enjoying each other's company.

Brief bio

I am a final year MDiv Student at Wartburg Theological Seminary and a candidate for Word and Sacrament ministry. I spent several years as a distributed learning student while continuing to live in the DC area and work for the federal government in budget, planning, and human resources. I spent the last year on internship in Milwaukee, and now live in Dubuque and attend seminary full time.

Did you always want to be clergy?

No, I am definitely a latecomer to this calling, having worked for the government for 15 years and only hearing and following the call to Word and Sacrament ministry in my mid-30s.
