Ministry setting

I am the pastor at Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church (COSLC)!

What brings you joy in your ministry?

I love getting to walk alongside truly amazing people and hear their excitements, hopes, dreams, fears, and worries. Being there with the people of COSLC is joy enough! The fun stuff we do for ministries is just icing on the cake!

Who inspires you in ministry or seminary?

Honestly? The parishioners. They went through several years of self-discovery while they didn't have a pastor and hearing their stories of learning and growing and their excitement and commitment to play and have fun and try new things is infectious! It's awesome!

What are your interests outside of ministry?

I love taking my cat on walks, adventures, hikes, coffee shop exploring, etc. :) My partner/husband and I take her all over in the car and her backpack. She usually just naps the whole time or stares out the window. It's beyond cute and I'm obsessed.

Other than being a mom to an Adventure Cat, I love watching New Girl and exploring and getting to know the great state of Alaska and the amazing people and scenery this state is home to.

Best meal you've ever eaten?

Dang. The best meal I've ever eaten (this summer) was on my honeymoon. My partner/husband and I got these halibut fish 'n' chips at a little place in downtown Ketchikan, Alaska. Gaaahh, they were amazing!!

Brief bio

For undergrad she attended both Luther College in Decorah, IA, and Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, WA, as well as, spending a year in Athens, Greece for study abroad. For seminary, Erika attended both the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg in PA (pre-merger) and Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary in Berkeley, CA. Erika is now serving in her first call at Christ Our Lutheran Church in Anchorage, AK.

Did you always want to be clergy?

I knew that I wanted to be a pastor while on internship in seminary! The first Sunday I got to both preach and preside, everything clicked and I just knew that this felt right. Nothing else would be worth doing.
